just cut the back half of the bottom part of the casing, worked out pretty good needs a cleanup but gives good results.

test fit of the motherboard size with the backhalf done.

The bottom half cutting is complete heres some pics with a test fit of a cardboard cutout of the mobo.

Anyone know anything about re-sanding plastic back to or close to original gloss, because now that ive cut most of this case on the inside whats a good method of fixing it up? Maybe along the lines of fine grit sandpaper and wet sanding is what i can think of.

    cheers

    This is a cool mod.

As far as getting the plastic back to smooth and glossy, it's pretty tough. Usually you have to sand it and paint it the original color to get the gloss. If it's really rough you can use a primer first to fill sand scratches, wet sand the primer with 1000 grit, then paint over that.

You could also try some wetsanding and a plastic polish like plastix

Someone on here used Novus plastic polish on something... Nope can't remember who or what log, but they said it worked great after a very fine grit 1500 or higher. SXRguy has used it on acrylic on a couple of his logs as well.

yep, novus 3 (harsh grit) and 2 (finer grit) together with a cloth buffing wheel work great! Check out my rockin case log, I used it a LOT in there

thanks SXRguy looks great, awesome info sounds like it could work, should i be looking at about 1500 or higher grit to get that nice finish? Ive got a little buffer wheel too to use at the end.

when I did all that I went 1000 to 1500 to 2000, then the buffer. that plastic is probably softer than acrylic though, so take it REAL easy with the buffer so you don't melt it

If you are just worried about polishing up the inside of the case, I wouldnt bother, since the hardware is going to hide most of the case interior anyways.
