Default Help! Want to turn on PSU without connecting to Motherboard.

I basically want to hook up alot of lights and fans, and DO NOT want them connected to the same power supply as my expensive PC Components.

Can someone PLEASE do a Lil' Tutorial or Instructional on How To make PSU that runs by its self.

Like a Test Station. That would be good

I dont know much about wiring electronics. I have a soldering station, and I can solder wires together, solder L.E.Ds and resistors on and all. . but thats about it.

Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.

simple look for the green wire on the 20-24 pin connector and short it with the black one on its left, then it'll run all connections w/o being plugged into a mobo.
if you need ill do a pic tut

I see 1 green wire and black wires on either side.
Clip is on top in photo.

I'm using a 20 Pin for this lil' experiment.

Great Got it Working! You can use either black wire.

Thats a pretty sweet idea. removeable, and no wire stripping or anything needed. very clever. im impressed.

Yeah. I googled it about a month ago

It works on MOST power supplies. Not all of them. My Fortron Source 225 watter won't do that. My newer ones do though .

Oh, and make sure you don't short the green wire to the BROWN on accident.

    Oh ****. lol

Bucko did a very cool project where he made a test PSU for checking components. He also added a couple other connectors to it to allow connecting bare wires (speaker terminal clips).

What you can do is add a switch on the wire between the green and black, and then you can just click a switch to turn it on when you need it.
