    Default Laptop Upgrading

Does anyone know what memory Dell Inspiron 9200 uses? I looked at one website and it said 200-pin DDR2 and I looked at another website and it said 200-pin DDR. Does it matter or are both versions of RAM compatible with my laptop? Also why does DDR2 cost less than DDR? Isn't DDR2 better?

I also want to get a laptop cooling pad, but I'm not sure what one to get? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hmmm, is there anything else I should look into for upgrades? I have about $140USD.

Why doesn't newegg have Pentium M processors? or am I missing something here...

lol why do I have so many questions??
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

Here are the laptop cooling pads. I don't really know which one is best.

If you need a laptop cooling pad, wouldn't putting a faster processor make it run hotter?...

I found a video on your notebook; I haven't watched it myself though.

Or you can build your own like someone else did on the forum.

It looks like I am going to have to build my own. The fans on this laptop are so far apart that the fans on the coolers wouldn't reach. Time to hit the drawing board!

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. If at the very least, this baby needs some more RAM. I'm only running 512MB's right now. THIS should up the power hopefully. ...well, definitely. lol

I've also heard that I can "give" some of my RAM to my gpu? Does anyone know anything on that?

And finally, my last question of the day. Is Pentium M the only processor that is compatible for upgrading this laptop? Even WoW tells me my processor sucks. lol (1.6GHz)

okay, I lied. Last question, promise. Is this socket 478 the same as a desktop socket 478? If so, could it be possible to put in a desktop processor if I could figure out how to adequately cool it?

    TIA

This is my topic about my 450 ROG. It's a 478 pin processor. Check out the differences; 1 pin is shifted. The other processor is a desktop P4

I think the Pentium M's are just slightly different, like Mitternacht said.

In fact, I think it is 479. I know to run one in a desktop, you have to get a board with a special socket.

This is a setting in the BIOS. It simply shares part of the system RAM with the GPU. I wouldn't suggest you change this unless you have at least a gig of RAM.
