You could use a heat gun, but that's a bit sketchy. 1/4" acrylic will take a lot longer to heat using a heat gun.Originally Posted by hellboy
If I were you, I would build a nichrome wire bending jig, if you want plans for one let me know and I'll give you a drawing or something. I also have nichrome wire if you need that.
However, if you really want to try it with a heat gun, just clamp the plexi down with the line you want bent on the edge or a table or something with a right angle. When you're clamping the acrylic, put a towel or something under the clamp as to not ruin the surface.
ALWAYS keep the hat gun moving back and forth, it'll probably take a while to heat up this think of plexi. Otherwise, you'll burn it or get ugly bubbles from the surface. Just keep the tool moving back and forth and back and forth until you can easily bend the plexi over the right angle. If it isn't hot enough and you have to use too much force to bend it, you will come out with a weak bend, and you'll warp the plastic.
