I reinstalled windows 7 started on my laptop but i realized i couldn't read the key after i reinstalled everything. I cant make out 3 number or letter out of the last 8. what do i do?

you can just install windows without the key (enter nothing and hit next), then you can download a program from the internet that will get into your machine and look up what the key is supposed to be.
I tried that and it just give me a generic key witch wont work
you could try calling the number it gives you for phone activation.
i had a computer that i had reinstalled xp home and it kept telling me the number was invalid even though it was on a sticker on the case. i called up the number it gave me for help and they gave me a new number associated with the windows install.
I know MS used to give free replacement keys if you proved the sticker on your machine has been damaged beyond reading - this was in the days of XP so I don't know if they still do this or not - give 'em a call - worst thing that happens is you end up where you are now...

I did call ms they told me i was sol. So i spent 4 hours and playing the guessing game.
