Thread: ATX Female Connectors - Where to buy?

Default ATX Female Connectors - Where to buy?

OK, just a quick questions. I know I can order them but I really don't want to wait. Can you buy these anywhere that I might have locally? Radioshack, Home Improvement Stores?

Not sure if that is the name of them. I am sure there is an actual name besides ATX.

Digikey should have them (but wouldn't be local), and I think RadioShack might also carry them.

Nevermind, do you know if they have a name other than just ATX Female connectors?

Digikey does have them starting at $1.54 each; they're better known as Molex Mini-fit Jr. connectors, specifically 20-connector ones (2x10) (or other-brand equivalent; I believe AMP makes them as well, among others). Maybe you meant these; either way. Being Digi-Key, they of course have a couple of nearly-identical substitutes and a list of mating connectors right there.

Mouser, similarly, have 'em for a few cents more.

If the Rat Shack has 'em, damned if I can find 'em online, but there might be a few in the back room or what have you. No matter where you buy 'em, you'll need the pins as well, but they're easy to find on either Digi-Key or Mouser, and probably other places depending on where you're at.

Oh, and a quick edit: these can indeed be a pain to find, even if you can keep their genders straight.

Gee, it damn sure took me long enough to find and add the origin of the first quote...

If you have a Microcenter near you they might carry them. Check the 'DIY' section. In the one near me at least, there's a wall of random little bits in it (screws, various electrical connectors, etc). I seem to remember seeing some male ATX connectors there..not sure about female.

Hahaha, rookie mistake. I meant to put ATX Pin Female connectors. I need an actual pin that crimps on the wire to put into the plug. Not sure if that is the right terminology.

    I need these, not these.

You could always ask the local computer repair shop. They probably have piles of stuff you can salvage for no to very little cost.

Watching someone else use your computer is like watching a drunk orangutan solve a rubix cube. They have no idea what they're doing and you just wish they'd hand you the damn thing so you can do it yourself.
