    Default Project: SS 496

    Hey guys,

This is my first mod, and I have a few ideas for it. I am dubbing this build SS 496.

Let me tell you a bit about it first. A couple days ago I was given a Dell Dimension 2400 it has a 2.2ghz Celeron, with 256mb RAM, CD/CD-RW. I'm going to be gutting the case/possibly getting a different one(not sure yet.) I have an MSI G31TM-P21 mobo, I plan on a P4, a 7200RPM HDD, a ton of RAM, and a killer Graphics setup.

So for the Case mod itself I plan on cutting out a window in the side of the case filling it with a piece of lexan, mounting a 120mm fan in the lexan and drilling vent holes. Removing the Giant green shroud on the CPU heatsink and replacing it with a different cooler. On the other side of the case I'm going to fill the "Dell" emblem with bondo and making it nice and smooth. And for color I'm still trying to decide I have a few ideas but I'm still not sure.

I will post pics as I progress with this project. today Im thinking about cutting the window and mounting the lexan. If you have any suggestions, ideas or comments please feel free to let me know.

I picked up some Lexan today, got it roughed out to the shape I want it. I attempted to use my El cheapo rotary tool to cut the side of the case but it didnt work...so after I get out of school tonight I'm gonna run to the shop and bust out the Grinder.

I will post some pics when I get home tonight

Update: As I was cruising Ebay a little while ago I just so happened to have picked up a new MSI G31TM-P21 MOBO, as well as have a Seagate 7200rpm 160GB HDD, and a 3.6GHZ P4, 8gbs RAM. For video card Im thinking nVidia GeForce 8500GT. And now I'm thinking Home-Brew Case, or pre-built with some home brew addons

Yesterday marked the arrival of the case that I am basing the build on. the case is an Antec Three Hundred.

Currently it is all black, but that will be changing very soon......

Black-box cases make great blank canvases.
