Re: RetroMod (cardboard case)
I'm wondering if you could post a video of the big hinge assembly in the back of the case. That's would be awesome and I'm pretty curious on how it works and how it was built.

Re: RetroMod (cardboard case)
Hey now, that's pretty darn awesome! You can open the case and tinker without unplugging things from the back of the motherboard. That's pretty sweet. Is the hinge made out of cardboard as well? I assume it is but there aren't any pics of it before you painted.
Also, +rep for same day picture response!

Re: RetroMod (cardboard case)
Great job with this mod. The side panel is especially awesome. How well does it open once everything is installed and wired together? The mechanism reminds me a lot of the old PowerMac G4 cases.

Why must hard drives fail together?
Re: RetroMod (cardboard case)
Wow, I totally missed the hinge when I first read through. That is a super-ingenious idea due to the fact that, as d_stilgar said, it allows access to the motherboard without unplugging all the cables. That's worth at least a rep and hopefully well see such a simplistic solution to tinkering access more often! And all with primarily cardboard!
