    Default Project Storm Shadow

    Project: Storm Shadow

So, time for a GI Joe mod. The victim case is the Raidmax Blackstorm, even though this one is clearly white.

My favorite part is how the case butterflies open

The first thing I had to do was remove the blue trim to paint

Then I cut out that hideous honeycomb wannabe mesh

I painted the trim with a white plastic primer

And then red. You'll see that red and white will be a common theme here

Once it dried I put it back in bezel

I've had these red LED case feet that I've been meaning to use

Next is the window. I just had to draw out a rough shape to cut

And I didn't follow that path at all

I added this cool graphic to the window

Mounting the window was easy because I used the latches that held the previous side vent in place

    And there it is. Cool

The panel is back in place, but the blue drive latches look stupid

I just had to paint the drive bay covers

Now to the fix the front intake

Actually I don't like tooless drive bays. I'm tossing them for screws

This used to be from a mesh intake box found at Office Depot

I cut it out and slid it into place

Next, I have to change the default blue intake to a red one

By itself, it looks odd, so I need a shroud

    With the fan on

I changed the rear fan to red too, but the slot covers look dumb

    So they get painted white

And now they're back in place

    Looking really good thus far

Time to move on to the right side where this cool fan shroud swings out. I won't have to piant it because no one will be able to see the blue here anyway. I will add a red fan though

Time for a little paint to liven up this panel

I'm not much of a fan for screwless design either. There's too much wobble for one, but I also think that simple screws give a cleaner look. You can paint them to blend in to the point where they basically "disappear" too.

This is looking like a pretty nice mod project so far. Simple and effective. I'd only say that there could be a bit more white accent where the red drive bays are. It just looks like too much red in one spot to me. I think a bit of white could help tie it together better. Although that's just being nit picky. It looks good as is.

I can't think of a single person who has more mod projects than TGS. lol Quite the resume you've built up over the years.

    Whoa. Cool case.

Reminds me of the G3/G4 Powermacs.
Two years. They were great. Let's make the next ones even better!

Just a thought as the airflow looks really constricted would it work to remove it completely? Wouldn't have to worry about hiding those wires or about someone eventually spotting it and being like thats out of place. Great mod just adding my two cents.
Regedit'ed, Rooted, and Jailbroke anymore questions?
Here’s a bumper sticker I’d like to see: “We are the proud parents of a child who’s self-esteem is sufficient that he doesn’t need us promoting his minor scholastic achievements on the back of our car.”
