Thread: Replacing CC in TFT monitor - nothing on TBCS?

Default Replacing CC in TFT monitor - nothing on TBCS?

OK I have searched the forums and my TBCS-fu just doesn't match my Google-fu. Are there any threads here about how to replace the cold cathode in a flatscreen monitor?

I'm just about to do this and have found threads on other sites but none here ... if there isn't one I am going to make a worklog and post a how to on the forum.

note to mods: please don't move to tech or anywhere I want as many regs as possible to view this. If this is not covered on tbcs I'll do a worklog and that will go in one of the techy places .. of your choice

I might have seen one somewhere but I believe the member that did it is unavailable, same as his posts.

i've done it before, quite easy, when i did it it was a case of removing the casing, take CC out and remove the inverter and replace, then screw back together.

if you do, could you be so kind to add it to the wiki when you have completed it on the forums?

    For you XcOM, anything.

This one is a Benq and appears to have 2 CC tubes one top and bottom. That's making me think it may actually be the inverter that has gone and not the lamps, unless someone let one lamp blow and then worked with a disabled monitor until the other one went. This I find unlikely but possible.

Someone did it here once before, but decided to leave the community under not so good terms.

Yeah, that was a weird situation and I am going to leave it at that. This is a discussion best left untouched.

@CB: I cannot wait to see your worklog/tutorial.

Here is the only thing I could find on replacing
    a inverter and CCFL's in a Ben-Q Monitor.

The only tutorials I could find were Laptop CCFL Replacement.

i would put my money on the inverter, thats the most likely problem, more likely than the cc's going
