Thx guys.
Now I am discovering ... having spent £35 on the glass ..I'm looking at another £35 for the hinges!!! Thats nearly $150 on the top. Damn. Yet she looks good and it's only getting better.
Aside from getting the finishes I want, there be a plan to install a Slave HTPC/media server in there next. Slaves! She wants slaves. I can't get my X2 4200 to beat an Intel chip but I can put more computers in that case. I'm contemplating how much storage I would need for the rest of my life and reckon 5TB should do it. What dya think?
ps I said no one mention ....
that looks really slick, aside from the wood haha, but i like the combo.
you need some wiring neatness in place though i never mentioned those words as said
+rep for it!

If i were you I'd build a timber top for the desk with a rebate in to take the glass. Not only would it look fantastic but it would be a lot easier to hinge if you really need it.
If you don't get what I'm on about let me know and I'll do a quick sketch
Thanks for all the support guys
Calum you clever man ... I'm planning something almost along those lines. I am building a mitred frame to create a fixed width wooden base on which the glass will rest and be hinged. Also looking for some kind of electronic activator arm to open the lid and some of the glass is going to be fake sandblasted with that stick on plastic stuff to hide the ugly parts. Plus I have realised I want the inside of the drawer and all the grey metal painted black so things are really, nearly, invisible til the lights come on.
