    Default Monitor program

    Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could give some suggestions on a good program to use to monitor CPU and case temps? I tried Motherboard Monitor 5 but it didn't work out to well. Thanks for any help.
    I have my 1.2ghz overclocked to 1.5ghz, it runs Doom 3.
    Oh yeah? My 2ghz is at, hold on lemme check, 2.014ghz, bitch.

    you really need to get a case sensor, cause the programs i think measure voltage and give an estimate to what the heat is.

    you might want to just get a fan controller with a temp probe. you can find all sorts on xoxide and frozen cpu

    For SpeedFan, how can one tell which temperature readout is which? I would assume that I could just kinda guess and assume that the hottest one is the CPU, and then the coolest one is the case. Then there's this third temperature readout that's sorta in between, and lastly there's my hdd0 and 'temp 1' under that (which I assume is just my second hard drive). Although I'm not too sure how well I can trust this program, temperatures seem to randomly spike up for no reason at all. Temperatures do, however, seem to rise when I blow a hairdryer around my case. Is there some way to tell which temperature readout goes where?

    Temp 1 = CPU Socket
    Temp 2 = CPU Diode
    Temp 3 = Case
    Temp 4 = PSU (this is only with some motherboards)

    Fan 1 = CPU
    Fan 2 = mobo fan socket
    Fan 3 = mobo fan socket
    Fan 4 = PSU fan (some motherboards only)

    SpeedFan is actually a reliable software. Spikes can be attributed to a couple of things: 1) power fluctuations in your PSU, 2) CPU usage spikes due to background apps

    Hope this helps.

    i have an ibm thinkpad, im not sure what model, can i configure fans in speedfan if they dont show up in the fan listing?

    edit: cpu-z tells me this:
    mobo = IBM 27233XU
    cpu = intel pentium M @ 1.3GHz

    that probably doesn't help anybody :-)

    no i dont think so. All those programs do is measure the voltage going to the device and figure what the temp is, unless the program came with your mobo.
