I have an idea to do a mod using 1/4 inch acrylic sheets. It's going to have 2 PSUs and 5 hard drives. The only thing I need is the acrylic, a PCI SATA controller card and the mobo/cpu/ram (I have the drives and PSUs). I'm going to make them where they can fit together easily. I also want to make acrylic doors on hinges for easy access to all of the parts. I attached a crappy mspaint image below to show a rough idea of how I plan to do it. I'm going to use screws and epoxy resin to put the pieces together. If anyone has any ideas or input, please shoot them my way.
I'll probably add some neon later. I already have a cheap board/cpu/onboard vga combo picked out:

Add about $35 for 512MB of RAM and I'm all set to go. You may have noticed that I excluded a CDROM in this package...but I plan to just install the OS from a CDROM drive and then unhook it permanently.
So what do you think? Good idea, bad idea? :p
