What motherboard even has that many slots for the cards?

I notice they don't have the 6 pin power plugs going into them either.

It looks pretty but two of the cards would be running a PCIE 1x and sure you could power alot of displays only 4 of the cards in to of the slots would actually be doing anything. I dont believe there are any drivers or any software that can hand graphics processing off to eight cards.

Correct me if I am wrong, but to even do SLI with 3 cards, all 3 need to be connected together. So with the 7950s, you would need one more SLI bridge to connect the 2 SLI'ed bunch already. I believe this kind of stuff is mainly for those who want numerous monitors.

I personally think that a single 7950 is already a waste of money. 8800s are here and R600s are around the corner.

Yeah that is truish. Well officially and supported the two cards in the first two slots are actually being used by the system.

You could conceivably run the two groupings of cards through PCI-E BUS. But it would not be true SLI as the work load would have to be completely split in half and sent to each of the two groupings of cards. So it would be sudo emulated SLI could be done with programming.

But yes to have all working a single powerful unit there would have to be one big SLI bridge across the top of all four card sets. And for that to work new firmware would have to be written for the cards.
