Overclocking and the Power Mosfet

The CPU voltage regulator or "Power MOSFET" seems to be overlooked in all these new attempts to Overclock, while Keeping to CPU Cool and stable.
More and More everyday I see less and less fans on computer cases and more water cooling.

It is a proven fact a fan is needed to create airflow around the power transistors.

Has anyone taken any Temp Reading's of there Power MOSFETs?

If you don't have a Fan in your computer you need one.

The MOSFET is more than likely the hottest component on your motherboard.

Do they have a MOSFET waterblock?

There really isnt a point to water cool a mosfet--consider the bulkiness even the thinest tube would create inside the case. it takes very littl air circulation to keep them cool and healthy. Sure I suppose if your crazy enough to want to water cool them you could make your own little block. It would have to be epoxied on and quite permanent. For cool factor you can always epoxy on some ram sinks.

yeah i think MOFSET's are also PWM's am i right or terribly mistaken?i say that because its the hottest part i know ofcan take up to 150C and usually loads at 70 on rigs with avg coolign if not then its a rare block to find but very useful and also with stock cooling shouldnt the mobo nb/sb/pwm hs cover it?

I was thinking that may be where the system instability in overclocking starts.
Ive locked my system up many a time overclocking.

Here is a MOSFET temp reading on a system that is not overclocked.
Intel P4 3.4Ghz HT w/Ecs N-Force 570 Sli Motherboard.

The Hottest MOSFET seems to be the one in the center.
That Equals 131.36° Fahrenheit

Note: All fans were removed except the CPU fan.
The Room Temp is 73° Fahrenheit / 22.7° Centigrade

Now the only question is at what temp do they fail?

Don't believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear watercooling a component the size of a fingernail is ridiculous. Locking up when overclocking can be caused by many factors, and looking to the tiny mosfets is not really the answer--Interested to see this waterblock and where you read about it--is it a production model or some guy in his garage?

Lol. . No I was looking up on of those Zalman fanless PC cases on Xbitlabs and read about the MOFSET temps.
The mofset waterblock is a garage dood. . idea..

Maybe something to cool a buncha parts including the MOSFETs and major resistors.

i just used thermal tape and chopped up some old heatsinks. this was on my old epox board, the mosfets were nicely lined up so it was pretty simple, and rather effective. i didnt get a higher OC, as the NB was seemingly at its max i believe, but it made the system noticeably more stable at that max OC

yeah theyre all in a line about 3 inches long, just stick a long hs on that, they already have a few out, its just like on vid card, theres something that looks like a mofset about 5mmx5mm that are cooled by the hs cuz theyre lined up
