XP Home can handle a _total_ of 4gb (including the page file).
The first 2 sticks would be in dual channel mode, but not the third. It _may_ be better to have 2x1gb + 2x512mb. I say may, because I have not tested it that way, but according to most mobo manuals dual channel mode is faster. I remember a thread here that mentioned that the 512mb stick had better timing latency so they should go in the first channel. Again, I have not tested that theory.

well i think i would just get 2gbs to start with then once DX10 comes out i will see how much ram it takes and then possibly buy another 2gbs.
