by Gigabyte supports 16Gb of RAM, as do most if not all of the boards with the NF590 chipset. Although unless you are running WinXP-64Bit you'll be restricted to 4Gb anyways.

For a gaming rig I'd have to agree that 1Gb of RAM is just cutting it, I would recommend your first upgrade be increasing to 2Gb. More Spec's on the system would be good for us to advise you better. Try to get the following if you can :

    Motherboard: Make / Model Number
RAM: Make / Speed / Latency
    PowerSupply: Make / Model
    VideoCard: Make / Model

For $1500 you should be getting a pretty kick-ass gaming system, although personally I would have gone for an Intel Core2 based system a 4600+ should crunch almost any game provided your videocard isn't a bottleneck.

    Peace!

but where would you buy/find RAM like that? 16 gigs, 4 slots?

OK update time..I pestered the guy once again. It is a AMD 4600 X2 64Bit, A Gigabyte motherboard (GA-M57SLI-S4) Two Western Digital 120 Harddrives, And the Videocard is something i forgot to ask. But apparently Its supposed to be a good one due to the fact that in a couple weeks im going to bridge two of them together? and Yes I do Plan on getting another gig of ram or two if i can swing it right away. And the Powersupply Is made By Coolermaster. Hes pretty excited about the build and it is a "Computer Shop" so hopefully I dont get screwed because Ive already paid..LOL...Reguardless if its not what I want. I will Put what I want in it. SO. THat being said.. Tell me what you guys think? or

I think that means you'll never afford 16gb of ram.

Even if it appears your being over charged, as long as it isnt a fortune, it should be allright as i'd expect you to get at least a full years parts and labour warantee. Which is allways nice if you try a daring mod.

Also on another side note, make sure he doesnt stick one of thoes "warantee void if removed" stickers on the side panel. Some companies get you this way. When you open it up and see that they didnt give you what you thought you paid for, they say that the warantee is void because you opened it up. Leaving you a broke and bitter man.
