and my friend still upholds that duel core 2.13 ghz processor is 2.13 x2 =4.26 coz its duel....is it?

The actually performance a cpu offers is hard to gauge because there are so many factors. First, to clarify the dual core v single core. You will never see double the speed with two cores. You will definitely see a significant speed boost in multi-threaded games and multitasking. The Ghz V. cache is not really clear cut, if I had the choice between more cache or a little higher Ghz, I would go for the cache. If your looking into cpu's, I wouldn't buy anything other than dual core since that seems to be where the future is headed.

i don't gauge CPUs using speed or cache. there are enough legit review sites out there that get there hands on pretty much anything worth buying that you can get a handful of reviews regarding whichever CPU your thinking of buying.

and no, just cuz there are 2 cores does nt mean he has a 4.26ghz anything. thats like saying my car has 2 engines that spin at 7000rpm, therefore it would be as fast as an engine that spins at 14,000rpm. or maybe its not, i dont know a lot about cars, lol

i remember how my dad explained dual core CPU's to me:

Dual core CPU's can be compared with a car. You can have a one seater car or a two seater car. They both run at the same speed but the two seater can have two people riding in it whereas the one seater has just one guy.

If you still don't get that then a program is the person in that example. With Dual core's you can have two programs running at the same speeds.
