    Default problem with pc

    Hello,
I am having trouble with my Internet explorer. It is doing some very odd things.Sometimes it will completely close the page i am visiting for no reason or it will be very slow loading pages and when i say slow i mean very very very slow for eg i tried to google something and after 10 minutes of the page trying to load i gave up.I thought that it was perhaps the topic i was searching so i tried putting in random things to see if that made any difference but it didn't.Another problem i had was when i was on a forum and clicked on a link and nothing happened i tried to open a new tab and that wouldn't work either and it would let me access any options that are in my tools menu.i had to restart my computer.Just to let you know i have high speed Internet connection. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me with this problem.

Any other changes in your system lately? Do you have another browser you can use? Have you scanned for spyware/viruses?

spyware/adware/virus scan would be my vote also. Plus, are you using a firewall?

    ^^^ what they said.

    Suggestions
    1st, stop using Internet Explorer.
    2nd, download Opera and/or FireFox.
    3rd, download Avast! anti-virus
    4th -- Crap Cleaner

Install Avast... and install CCleaner (run "Cleaner" and "Issues" on the left... delete whatever you like).

Go to Control Panel... Remove programs... and remove all the crap you don't use and don't recognize as to what it is.

By now, you should be able to get back in here with a slightly better internet experience.
Oh yeah, and stop downloading the free screen savers.

    Cheers!

I agree with Simon in getting firefox, Ad-aware, AVG, and zonealarm, but what is your network like? Do you use a wireless connection or is there a wireless connection in your network? If you do, is it secure? I ask this only cause I had these problems but has the proper protection. Upon removeal of a wireless HUB, I regained internet speed. I hope I help ...

Did you know that 64% of our visitors use firefox?

Just some stuff Rankenphile recently pulled from our analytic software. He's still here, by the way. Watching. Always...watching.

My guess would have to be your registry. Its is the central nervous system of your computer and is ALLWAYS overlooked by newbies and soccer mom's. Get yourself a registry cleaner (i use registry mechanic) and come back. Every time you remove or add a program or do somthing related to the system files, an entry is added to the registry. After a short while (average is 2 days) there can be as much as 50 invalid registry entries, which dramaticly affects all aspects of your systems performance.

Other useful tips for increased browsing speed:
Clean your temp internet files (bare minimum of once per month!)
    delete cookies
defrag your hard disks (once per month even if the windows defrag program says its not needed)
