Default Hola All.. 1st build question

what is a good gaming case that will accomadate 2 dx10 cards and 1000w PSU.

Main things I am look for in a case for my 1st build is ...

    1.) good instructions
    2.) room to work
3.) solid case that will last me a long while maybe aluminum?

thats all i really know to ask for at this point...

I just want my first build to go smooth and reading a lot of reviews on newegg leads me to believe some cases can cuase major frustration to 1st timers ... then the sheeer volume of cases to choose from is overwhelming

First off.... why do you need a 1000 watt PSU?

What kind of system will you be running? Will you want to mod it later? What is your budget?

Also, what do you mean instructions? Cases are pretty straight forward... you put stuff in them.

well i assumed to run 2 dx 10 graphic cards later i would need a minimum of 850 .. maybe not /shrug

What kind of system will you be running?

a top notch gaming rig is what i want to build

Will you want to mod it later? doubtful i will do more than put the componets in the case

What is your budget? i dont really have one in mind for just a case but want to stay between 3-5k on the computer i build

Also, what do you mean instructions? Cases are pretty straight forward... you put stuff in them.

reading some reviews on new egg abot various cases i would notice people say things like this case would not be a good case for a newb , or not a lot of instructions for new builders .. etc or the opposite of that saying this was decent for a begining 1st time build lots of good directions etc.. or even how some cases need to be dremmeled to fit componets or hard to work in from lack of room ... thats what i was referring to

The Nvidia 8 series cards use two pci-e power inputs; I expect that it would take a ridiculous amount of power to run both of them safely and efficiently!

As for a case, it depends what style you're looking for. I personaly would go for either the lian li v1000+ or my current case, the NZXT Lexa which is very spacy , comes with some nice added extras like a carrying harness, has an awesome brushed aluminium front bezel, LCD temp. display, and most importantly, a 120mm fan in the window, over the graphics card slots instead of the cpu, so it blasts cold air onto your graphics cards!

You can't go wrong with a Lian-Li, they make great cases. Have you looked into any of them? They have some sleek designs with tons of great features etc. Also, for ease of install and whatnot, I wouldn't worry about it too much - it's all pretty straight forward and if you have any trouble that what these forums are for!

I think the 8800GTX has 2 PCI power connectors is to insure stability. So lets say... instead of sending 40A through one power connector, they send 20A on two. They are the most power hungry cards, but it isn't ridiculous.

I personally like Silverstone caes. They just came out with the TJ09, which has a 120 mm fan to cool your video cards.

    Lian-Li's are pretty great cases.

Watercooling can be a major hassle the first couple of times you use it or troubleshoot it. Broken seals, leaks, There is not only increased costs, but maintenance and monitoring.
I'm not trying to dissuade you, just giving you the info I was never told.

If this is your first build ever, avoid watercooling. Get the basics down a few (dozen) times, then go for a more advanced setup.

BTW, the computer I'm posting this on is a watercooled rig. I feel some pride in saying that. It took lots of work I wouldn't have had to do otherwise, but you can't argue with a 78F processor.
