My PC (First water cooling Mod) 56k Nightmare !

Great forum you have here.

I've finally finished my PC, its not loaded with mods but its functional and I think it looks nice + I’m getting nice temps now out of a Prescott which is always a bonus, any opinions more than welcome.

Spec.

Mobo Gigabyte RZ 2004
Processor P4 3.0 GHz HT
33'c Idle, 39'c Load (Half life 2,Doom 3,F.E.A.R Etc for an hour)
Hard Drive 250gig Maxtor SATA
RAM 2 GIG Samsung DDR 3200
Graphics Geforce 7800 GS (AGP)
Sound Sound blaster Audigy 2

4 UV cold cathodes
1 UV 80mm Fan
1 Blue LED 80mm Fan
OCZ Modstream 450watt PSU
Cooler Master Aquagate with Thermaltake UV fluid

Still a bit of a mess.....

I didn't bother lapping the block because it looked pretty good.

Shot of it all up and running but without the OCZ power supply second pair of UV Cold Cathodes or side panel.

Finished in the dark

Finished with the lights on

Nice job. Congrats on the temps 39C under load. Diffenatly some overclocking potential there my friend.

So you are just cooling the cpu or have you got a water block for the 7800gs as well?

One thing though the tubing looks to be a little long you dont need to have those two giant loops it just means the system has take more fluid and takes longer to circulate.

I do really want to overclock, the motherboard has the ability but not as many options as others, can you recommend any good websites to build up my knowledge a bit on clocking before I toast the lot

Yea I realised about the loops after it all went in (lives and learns however the unit can actually be mounted externally as well so I assume it is capable of that kind of length..... + looks nice and complicated in there

Its just the processor thats cooled but i was looking at cutting some tubes and getting a danger den block for it, I think theres a tube diameter issue though.

You can get adaptors which change the barb size but it is just another part of the system that could fail and leak. The coller on 7800gs should be suffecient unless you OC it.

Fair enough on the length issue if the unit can be mounted externally and the tubes came pre cut.

i heard that the water cooling system you got there offers little better cooling than a good air cooling system, but damn it looks cool. i do like the fact that it's internally mounted and relitively easily.

Yea I read the reviews as well (mixed opinons I found) but as you say it is pretty straight forward to install and although im pleasantly suprized with the temps I really only bought it because of its looks and the fun factor of water cooling.

However the fluid that comes with it, although a cool blue colour is not UV active so i swapped it for the thermaltake stuff .

The unit is pretty silent running (i'm going to swap out its front fan because it whines a little more than it should and it hasn't got any leds at present .

Over all unless you want a really pro super cooler for serious overclocking i'd say its a winner (for me anyway) + I got it for under £50 delivered you'd be mad not to I thought

yeah i noticed that it was under 50 quid, which is always nice. im gonna get a clear perspex case, blue case fans and green uv water cooling. im then gonna blast (not sure how yet) my name onto the front panel with a little cs dude underneath. i'm looking at either the zalman reseractor 1 or the corsair nautilus 500. i'd prefer the zalman but i don't think i can justify spending 180 quid on water cooling...

You could probably use a dremel with a glass engraving tool and a stencil. That is what im going to attempt with the bottom right of my window (A nice Big "4D" in excess font)

The other thing to get your sig on the plexi would be custom graphics, that bloke on here with the red clear perspecs case said he got custom graphics and stuck them on and in his thread someone assumed it was engraving!.
