    Default cpu chessboard

    so i was browsing the DIY section of reddit and came across this: http://imgur.com/a/Wtuz3

    makes me want to find some ideas for my old non functional junk parts.

    Not bad! I've seen that pour-on epoxy and wondered about it before. Always been afraid the finish would be dull but that looks very clear.

    I kinda wondered if you agitated it while its casting, if it'd help it cure clearer (removing air bubbles, and settling it into the surface)

    It's funny to think that somebody made a chess board with components that probably total out to thousands of dollars worth of tech at one time.

    Cool project though.

    That is pretty cool, although I can't tell if the epoxy resin is flush with the rest of the board (in the CPU squares I mean).

    Usually with resins, if they're thin enough, you don't have to agitate it to remove the bubbles, but if you have a really hot day or a thick resin mixture, you may need a vacuum pump to remove the air bubble before the resin sets. Agitating for some resins might remove the large bubbles but not the small ones, at least from the resins we've used so far.
