Not surprised with this place disappearing for a bit.
    But it's back.

Not so good news on this project though.

This project is a no go, the motherboard is dead, powers up for a few seconds & then shuts back down, tried alternative memory & PSU removing everything else including the battery to narrow down the problem but same no worky effect, the lazy git just wants to sleep forever.

At least I got lacqodising out of this, nice but empty case is useless but the technique is useful for my future projects, I am in a slight state of depression from it though so I'm taking a break but I will do final photo shoot of useless empty case, ugh.

Photo shoots will be incoming over the next couple of days.

Have you checked the heatsink on the CPU? I replaced a CPU once and found that I had missed noticing that the heatsink wasn't fully seated. It would do the exact same thing: power up for a few seconds then shut down once the CPU hit the thermal cutoff. I had been planning an upgrade anyways but it was still annoying to figure out AFTER spending the money. Re-seating the CPU cooler is cheaper than buying parts, so give it a shot if you haven't already.

The Intel NUC one or Lean & Green?, anyway the NUC & this one is now complete so Lean & Green will be getting resumed soon.

I checked that but it wasn't that, at least it got some better thermal compound on there now, was a faulty power switch on the marble button, really didn't expect that, it's working now which was a big relief, thanks for the suggestion though Main.

It's complete & it works & will serve it's purpose as a low power very quiet HTPC, it's virtually silent with the fan plugged into the CPU header, I didn't bother making internals look good because only the front will be seen really & it won't be close enough to notice the multi-coloured wires.

Anyway it houses a SFX PSU, mini-ITX motherboard, SSD, 2x HDD's, modded 140mm akasa apache fan, IR sensor which lets me use the marble switch or remote control, snake mess of a wire job mostly stashed between the PSU & SSD so not in the way of air flow.

The SSD mount helps to direct the air flow down onto the motherboard & out through the sides, rear, top & PSU as well as blowing over the HDD's.

    On with the final shots.

Now I can focus on lean & green again when I'm feeling up for it which should be pretty soon, I don't idle so well lol.

Absolutely beautiful. The layered effect on the fan grill, the lacquer color, the contrast in the color on both of them, just beautiful.

    Awesome work, +rep!

+rep when I am off the mobile site

That is amazing and not that I am complaining at all but what happened to the homer grill? I honestly believe this isthe better choice but am not sure if I've missed what happened there.

And it was lean and green that I was after, I've missed it and its awesomeness. Hopefully it can be finished in the not so distant future.

Great work!!! Love the grill design and the colors. Glad you got it working and it wasn't anything expensive.
