It's nice to see that some people actually care about the aesthetics of cables not just the functionality.

It's really just as often about functionality as aesthetics. In the case of that 'blanket', sure, it works now...but if anything breaks the amount of time that they'll likely waste trying to find the issue will be exponentially longer than if the cabling were actually managed.
That being said, it's also about aesthetics. I love me a clean rack. ...in retrospect, that could be taken another way...keep your minds out of the gutter damn it!
