    Default Wireless problems.

Um..yeah I have this problem and I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with wireless networks where they cannot connect in 1 room in their house. I can get perfect signal in anyroom, except mine, where I can't even connect. Ironically my room is the closest to the router, about 10 ft away, but upstairs. IT MAKES NO SENSE!!

this makes a lot of sense. WiFi works via waves. your floor is probly made out of material that waves cant go through.

Try out NetStumbler to give a more detailed readout of your signal strength; however it doesn't work with every card.

another possibility is that all the main power conduits for the second floor just happen to run just above your room. have you considered, moveing the router INTO your room? Is that an option? Or if not into your room, into another room in the house on your floor

With all my experience with WiFi and related radio technology, I'm doubting that it would knock out a signal like that entirely if it is in the same house. That'd take a hefty bit of interference to kill 2.4 GHz.

Bad radios inside the router? Faulty maybe.
