its ALWAYS best to get on card of better performance right off the bat. buy the best, and when its not good enough... and SLI actually becomes more beneficial as newer games come out that use it more effieciently, you get another one then. never buy 2 cheaper cards over one good one.
you'll spend more money, and probably even see less fps that way. besides.. you get one, you have room to upgrade. you get 2, and the only upgrade would be to get rid of the 2, and get another one.
SLI is jsut still too new, and not enough games utilize it well enough. look into benchmarks results for yourself. see how 2 gt's stack up to one gtx. im almost positive the gtx will take them
I agree. If for no other reason then being able to upgrade later.
Thanks guys, just the answer I was looking for. If I was going to go for the duel 7900GT's it was about $130 AUS more anyway, money I don't have. Thanks.
one 7900gtx it beetter
It may be better in the long run as far as price and upgrades go, but the 7900gt's and the gtx's are the same card, but the gtx's are the cream of the crop. So going sli will give you more performance than just that one card. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.Originally Posted by ComputerKing
you will get better pefromance 75% of the time, but even then, only very few games, and usually only at high resolutions (which most peoples monitors wont support anyway)will you see those extra fps you so desire. It may be better in the long run as far as price and upgrades go, but the 7900gt's and the gtx's are the same card, but the gtx's are the cream of the crop. in all seriousness, if anyone s expecting to buy cards of this calibure, im sure they have a decent moniter
I have to agree with bart on this. He made good concise points.
Also, the CRT market isn't nearly as good as it was 5 years ago. I think it really started when Sony left the market.
try the new gtx2 card's
