Anybody know what the value of used 9800 GTX is nowadays

I have a friend at work is trying to sell junk, so that he can move, and has offered me a computer.

He wants $200 due to the fact that he put in a 9800GTX that he spent $120 on. It also has

• ~700GB hard drive
• ~350GB hard drive.
• Between 2-4GB of ram (May or may not be useful in my current machine)
• Unknown but possibly dual core processor (may or may not be more powerful than my current machine but it most likely is)
• He replaced the power supply with something around 600-650 Watts.
• It's also an emachines...

I'm mostly interested in the graphics card and possibly one or both of the hard drives.

My original idea was to buy it, salvage the Video Card, A Hard drive (Or two) and then try to give the rest away to someone who needs a computer but he doesn't have the side panel for it so I can't really give it to anyone. I'm not so sure that the rest of the hardware would be of any use to me so at this point it looks like I would be paying for a 9800GTX, 2 hard drives, a Spare power supply and some junk that will sit in my closet.

Any input?

GTX isn't worth that much anymore... hdd's are good if they are in working condition... thats about it...

That's what I was thinking. Even if the GTX still ran 120 new, his is used.
I think I'm going to pass on account of not wanting a useless chassis in my closet. Not to mention the sata ports are fubared because of the 9800 and the CD drive does't work. I don't think I can find enough purpose for any of the parts to warrant the expense.

To bad i can't just talk him in to dishing out the graphics card at a reasonable price.

I honestly shouldn't be buying anything right now anyway lol. He seems to need the money more than I needed the parts. Plus I need to upgrade my processor and motherboard more so than my graphics. My desktop sort of chugs along doing day to day things. Seems like it's just getting slower and slower.

I wouldn't pay more than ~$30 for a 9800GTX. You can find used 9800GTX+ on tech forums for $40, sometimes even less.

As for the rig itself, there's no way I would pay $200 for an old emachines. $200 can buy a lot of power these days, even new (cpu/mobo/ram).

You can get a GTX 460 for that much. Maybe even one with a WB installed. I've also seen (and bought) a GTX 560 Ti for $150
