That is a huge increase in performance and using half the power at the same time! This may just convert me over to Intel..... I wonder if we will see the first retail 5Ghz chip with these? I bet someone will hit 8Ghz on L2N shortly after the first chips are released.

I think it will be a case of ivy bridge definitely cannot have its IHS removed. Interesting tech though, I wonder how long until other companies can get it.

Sounds promising. I know IBM was working on a 3D die a while back but couldn't figure out a good way of dissipating the heat from the lower levels...I guess using these 'fins' instead of having multiple levels was how Intel got around that. If it does actually deliver on the number they're promising, this'll be pretty sweet.

Makes you wonder about the reasons AMD is being so tight lipped about Bulldozer... I can't say I'm a "fanboi" for either company as I have a network of mixed AMD and Intel systems and personally feel that depending on the intended use both manufacturers have their strengths and weaknesses but it's kind of hard to dispute Intel being the "king".

Great stuff, So less power required means less heat generated so will we see the processing power of multiple i7 cpu's in a passive cooled ITX mobo format, (I like ITX) let's face it the heat in PC cases and the fans needed to control it are a bit of a pain and quite crude compared to most of the other PC tech.

Will these 3D transistors be used in graphic cards or for making onboard graphics as powerful as today's expensive cards, also graphic cards could take a huge leap in graphic power with 3D processing, 3D transistors for 3D graphics kind of makes sense and makes a good Intel slogan, better go and patent it and give Intel a call

Looks like I may be going back to Intel again for my next chip. Have to wait to see what bulldozer is all about.
    I'll procrastinate tomorrow.

I'll still probably get an AMD based file server, but I'll have to see how the new bulldozer computers go.

Bulldozer FTW! I'm sick of constant socket changes by Intel
