    Change out that lowend processor for high end one and it probably wouldnt run.

    18 amps is the rating I find that a high end system needs. Then you need to add more if going with the sli config and such or dual procs.

    Here you have a ****ty SFF that will handle two Opteron and a highend workstation card (Fire GL / Quadro) without problem. I presume the Opteron 252 will work as well just not added to the page yet since it is quite new, oh and that would be the equivalent of TWO FX-55.

    Whisp, I think one of the newer models shuttles does offer a 300w PSU, but the rest all use the same 250w PSU since to date no one has reached its limitations. And your analogy was better than mine.

    If you want some more indepth info check out the Sudhian forums, and look at some guys sigs, they are running some pretty high end stuff in those little boxes.

    Well that system has a lot bigger psu at 350 watts. Its 12 volt rail is 17 amps.

    Page 21 of teh downloadable pdf.

    Big difference between a 250 and a 350.

    Also it can handle sure dual chips and a fire gl chip. But you have to look at the combination. If you take there regular and not the ee which are low power consumption then you are looking at 89 watts per chip. Thats 178 watts for the 2.4 (250 series). That psu pushes 204 in the picture on page 21. Anyways doesnt leave much room for a high end vid card and probably a low end . If you switched to the ee processors then you could lower that wattage cnsumed and put the higher end card in. i personally think it depends on what teh combination is because there is no denying amps and volts and rating sof a psu.

    watts = amps times volts.

    Also i find it odd that they say on the main page its a 300 watt psu when al the rest of the documentatioon shows it as being a 350. there is no way you could run an opteron dual core on anything less then a 350 unless there is a cheap onboard vid card.

    yeah i check out those mods all the time. Some really nice small cases there but usually i see 9800 pros and such because card space is a factor too.
