Thread: New PC will only boot with install disk in tray?

    Default New PC will only boot with install disk in tray?

    Just built an i7 tig and got windows installed, but the OS will only boot if there is a CD in the tray. Please HELP!!

    none that i know of, i tested the SSD's already

    i had that issue. all i did was mess around with the boot order in the bios. and the other time it happen i think i did something to screw up the mbr.

    Hmmm.....What OS? I am assuming 7. Have you tried to boot with no cd drive attached or making the ssd the only boot option?

    Also, you said ssd's so does that mean you are running a RAID array?

    Edit: Also you can check the boot settings for the os by running msconfig and selecting the boot tab.

    Just wondering, does it matter what CD is in the drive?

    it has to be my windows disk... im gonna try to reinstall 7 quickly... i did have a little issue trying to get the machine to boot... ill update in a bit.

    Found that on a quick google search may help you out to do a boot repair instead of complete reinstall (may be a little faster)

    that sounds like what happen to me the first time mine did that. i messed with the boot order then i just reinstalled it and it worked. also shortly after me drive died on me.

    i figured it out. I disabled ACHI, enabled IDE, then built the raid array. OS loaded on the first install after that... lol.
