Default Killbox Mini - My ode to Murderbox

Ever since I found murderbox.com and the various worklogs associated with the builds I have wanted to take a shot at my version. Blue and Black will be be the colors of choice with clean lines and subtle features.

This will be my first mod so it will be a learning experience as well. I work during the day running my own computer repair service and selling computers that I have refurbished. I have always wanted to open up a boutique computer store and this is a step in the right direction. Anyways on to the good stuff.

The Case: Lian Li PC-7b Plus II:

    The Motherboard: AsRock 890FX

    The Memory G.Skill Pi 8GB

The Power Supply: PC Power and Cooling Silencer - Not sure on this since I will be modding the wire lengths. But a good starting point.

The Video Card: MSI GTX460 1GB Cyclone - SLI Later - Card Picked for Certain Reason -

And The Brain: AMD X6 1090T

Build comes to about $1100 before any rebates or anything else. I will be reusing a Vertex 2 120GB SSD from another build and eventually it will get another GTX 460.

For the start this will be aircooled as I do not think that I have the budget or time to get it ready before the 18th of next month (local LAN party).

The mods will start out with having the chassis powdercoated black to match the exterior. The front panel will get a full cover aluminum plate with my logo cut in (have to find someone local who has a waterjet) and blue etched acrylic behind it with LEDs to light it up.

And something I haven't really seen before until now. Something like the new H67 Sabertooth board by Asus with the "tactical-jacket."

Let me know what you think and any input you have. I am open to all suggestions.

Sounds like you have a good plan, looking forward to seeing it come together.
As for the "tactical-jacket" this is a great example where OEMs have taken a cue from the the modding world. Several modders out there do motherboard covers for their creations. The first ones that really stood out to me were Defyant's mods.

Now get out there and build it!

I like that but I still want to show off some of the motherboard so I am not sure of the design that I will be using. I have been thinking of a design to have cut into it.

I have never used acrylic before and I want to have my logo cut out of the aluminum that will be covering the front. I am thinking of putting blue acrylic behind it but I don't know on the lighting options of the logo if I need to leave it smooth or have it etched to show the light.

I should be able to order the case the first of next week and get started on the modding right away. Just waiting on the money to hit the bank.
