Not dead yet
It's usually pretty straightforward. You download and burn the iso as a bootable cd. Then I think you need to remove a jumper to able to flash on the gigabyte boards (check manual) and then you boot from the CD and follow the instructions. And replace the jumper again after that.
EDIT: I just remembered, you might want to write down your BIOS settings (unless you're rolling with 6x4gb RAM in your brain and can remember them all) because BIOS flashing can reset some settings, at least on my AMD board.
