Of all the forums on the internet, this is probably the last one you have to appologize for being a nerd. I mean, we take perfectly good computer cases and "fancy them up" because a beige box isn't good enough for us, we demand our computers to have windows, LED fans, custom moulded perspex flames lit by sound activated CCFLs, bondo contours and embedded LCD monitors, fan controllers and mice crafted to look like fossils and cyclops!

I mean, if that isn't "nerdy", then my entire high school was shunning me for false pretenses! lol

That said, we prefer the term "geek". Us nerds are a touchy lot, lol.

    Absolutely.
Know why? Well, imagine the current flowing out of a battery positive, through the circuit and back into the negative. Now imagine two in series, Out of the + into the - of the other, from the + of that, through the circuit and back to the - of the first.
    With me so far?
So, when one becomes discharged, and only one, the other may still be strong enough to push current through the circuit. Of course, it goes the same way it always did, but since the dead battery is no longer helping, it becomes part of the circuit.
What this means is that the current througn it is trying to charge it, but in reverse, which is not a good idea.

Seems there was problems with those batteries anyway. Another set from the same pack just blew up in a mobile speaker i had lying around. It's put a permanent stain in my brand new chest as well.

I'll post a wee pic tommorow of the damage-sorry tho, the mousemat was making me feel ill so it had to get chucked out before my new camera arrived.

Now i gotta remember what else i put those damn batteries in...

Can't say with %100 certainty, but i don't normally go through a lot of AA's anymore. Everything is powered by Li-ion's these days...so chances are it's the same batch. I'd kinda hope so, or my luck is just sucky

Sorry it took so long to get access to my photos. But here's the battery stain. I don't think that's ever coming out; thank god it's cheapo Ikea furniture and not my redwood desk.

That's more than a stain. It's bleached the colour out. Is it 'real' wood or veneer? If it's real, you could probably sand the whole thing and re varnish it.

Speaking of blow-ups. My KonicaMinolta 2400W blew up yesterday.
Well, not really blew up, but a paper jam which I couldn't fix right away lead to serious consequences. It jammed up at the fuser, which is inaccessible. I pulled out what paper I could, but there was still some in there.
Having removed what I could, I figured it might be possible to run a sheet of card through it to clear it.
when I turned it on however, this happened.
I turned it off right away (and took the photo, the camera was right by me, luckily). I figured I really needed to get in there and clear that jam.
So, I removed part of the mechanism to allow me better access.
I extracted this lot but I think the damage is done.

You should be able to replace the fuser and fuser rollers. I worked in a print shop for years, and there is nothing that is not replaceable in a printer, it's just a matter of finding the parts. Go look around on eBay, you should be able to find something.
