Wanted: Video card 5850 or better

It's about time to replace my aging but still awesome 4870. From what I've seen the 5850 will outperform it, so I'm looking for something at that level or higher. Nvidia cards need not apply.

If anyone has anything they want to sell or trade let me know. I have a white NZXT Phantom that I'd be willing so consider trading if anyone is interested.

Is this a Radeon HD 4870? I can't help you with a newer one but I'm looking to upgrade soon myself and I'm thinking it may be cheaper for me to double up my own card (which is the above) If you have the same one as me, and noone can give me a good reason to spend on a new one instead of using two of these (I don't really get how doubling up works) then I may be able to at least help you fund the upgrade

i bought a 5830 to replace my 4870. the 5830 beat my 4870 in every game and test i used. i picked up a modded 5850 his reference design with the asus bios off eBay for 145 that is cheaper then any 5800 card any where. i wouldn't rule out a 5830 or a 5770 those are on par with 4870 from most benches i have seen.

Yes it is, Sapphire branded. I was running two in Crossfire for a while but I decided I needed the money I could get for the second card more than I needed the performance boost. Now I'd like to get something with DX11 support that will perform better in a single-card solution.

I agree on the benchmarks, but I'm looking for something that will significantly outperform the card I have. No point in spending money for a mediocre improvement. I've just about decided it has to be at least a 5850 or it won't be worth the trouble.

What's the performance boost like BOB? Does it compare to getting a newer single card? I'm sure it makes sense cost-wise doesn't it? I'm skint at the moment and trying to raise a serious amount of cash to keep my car on the road but if it's cheaper than upgrading to a newer card I'd certainly be interested in taking the 4870 off your hands if you wanted to pm me a price!

Honestly, at the time the only real-world difference I saw was in Crysis, where it was huge. The single card ran all my other games maxed out just fine, but they weren't that demanding. Of course, it made all the benchmarks look a *lot* better.

I'll PM you if I decide to sell it. This 4870 is the only card I have, and my board doesn't have onboard video so until I get a replacement I'll have to hang onto it.

No worries, cheers BOB. I don't have a mobo capable of fitting dual cards yet anyway so it'd be phase one of a costly rebuild to include a nice new intel CPU and a helluva lotta ram too :p
