Default Windows 7 - $30 if you are in the US and in college

I just did my pre-order. If only I had been picked to host a Windows 7 party!

If you live in the US and you are a college student, then head here and get Windows 7 Home Premium or Pro for only $30. If you want a disk (for clean install or upgrading from XP), then it will be an extra $13. At any rate, this is the best deal you are going to get. I ordered mine just now, but the promotion ends Jan 3.

You mentioned Pro? Is there a different link for that?

Once you register and get a link to the store section of the site, there is a little link under the big "buy home premium now" buttons that will give you pro instead. I was unsure about that at first, but it works. I promise.

Sweet! Thanks; I just registered, and sure enough, link appeared

I think this is the first time I've ever been glad that MS dropped a feature from one of the versions of their OS (in this case, AD support).

Unfortunately it's only an upgrade, but at 20% of the cost of an OEM license, I can deal with that

I got picked for the windows 7 party... lets just say.. Its meh way over hyped.. could be another flop if mac markets it right..

It gets really anyoing when things dont work are have been removed that vista had.. I actually have several vista computers I upgrade them all to vista so they were all the same os and easyer to sync.. but with more stuff not working on windows 7 I dont plan on moveing past vista.. untill they do with the features removed to make the os smaller and replaced with windows live (I hate windows live its crap) It makes it a hard sell even for free I dont really want it. .

?? What did you need that they took out? And what doesn't work? I've been running 7 (granted 7 Ultimate, but still 7) since June and haven't run into any problems yet.

The only thing I ever had an issue with was FTP in explorer. I haven't checked since the beta, however. Well, there was also PunkBuster, but it's normal for it to act up. I've been using Win7 since the beta back in late January.

Australian University & TAFE Students can order Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional UPGRADE (32-bit & 64-bit) for $49.95 from itsnotcheating.com.au (http://www.microsoft.com/student/dis...g/default.aspx) - seems you can also get Windows 7 if you're a student in Canada, France, UK & the US - there are other countries listed but they seem to limit the special deal to Office 2007 only.
