The Mxix Ultio MX-800HD unit arrived in a small black box with illustrations that outline the multi-media, and network capability of the unit. The full device specification and list of compatible file types is conveniently located on the back of the box, along with several explanations of the features.

The Mvix unit is protected by foam inserts that have been installed on both ends to prevent shipping damage.
A plastic bag was used to cover the assembly. It includes a sticker that reminds us to update the firmware. It provides the web address to the download location.

After removing the contents you can see the included accessories pack.
It has been neatly separated from the unit in its own labeled box.

The accessories box includes (1) 6' Premium HDMI cable, (1) 6' RCA Cable, and (1) 3' USB 2.0 Cable.
The remote control and power adapter are also included along with some extra mounting bolts.
You have the option to choose the video and audio cables you feel are appropriate for the specific display device.

A detailed user manual has been provided. You must
follow the directions step by step to complete the procedure.

The remote battery's are included in the accessories box.
You may install them in the back of the remote control by sliding
the access panel down to open, inserting the battery's in the correct position.
No remote programming is required you can use it right out of the box.

The front of the Mvix Ultio MX-800HD unit features ( navigation buttons, and (1) power button.
The front bezel is black with a mirrored finish which is complemented by the Mvix logo.
The chrome trim and buttons add to the overall style to the enclosure.

On the back of the device you will find the RCA, Componet RGB, Optical, and HDMI outputs. Select the cable that is compatible with your television or stereo receiver. Plug it into the back of the unit after carefully reviewing color, connector type or orientation.

The RJ-45 Local Area Network port allows you to connect to and access media files from your network. You also have the option to add files to the ultio with a thumb drive. The USB 2.0 connection allows you to use the device as an external harddrive. Please note, it temporarily disables the video when connected to a USB port.

On the side of the frame there are several vents that allow heat to escape from the device. Use caution when selecting an area for the unit. Do not place the unit on top of another device that generates heat.

    SATA Harddisk Installation:
A small phillips head screwdriver, or jewelers screwdriver is recommended in the disassembly of the mvix ultio unit. Remove the I/O panel from the back and carefully extract the motherboard carriage assembly from the enclosure.

Remove the three screws from the back on a level surface that
is free of debris. Collect the screws and keep them in a safe place.

One mm bolt should be removed from the center of the panel between the
RCA and Component RGB ports. It is slightly larger than the others.

Then remove the remaining fascia or flush mount screws
which are located on the right, and left side of the I/O panel.

With the I/O panel removed, and the case open you can see the internal interworkings of the Ultio.
At the time of purchase you will be presented with the luxury option of a preinstalled harddrive.

If you have choosen to insert the disk manually you must install a "Formatted" SATA harddrive into the unit. You can install the SATA harddrive by removing the frame, and placing the disk face up on the drive carriage.

With the ultio disassembled you can use the frame to support your hard drive during installation. Place the hard-drive upside down atop the frame; while carefully aligning the connectors, initiate the connection procedure. Simply place the data, and power cables in there designated locations.

Then flip the hard drive forward seating it flush against the chassis of the unit. Now replace the frame holding the unit in the upright position; face down. Carefully slide the frame over the harddrive. Then replace the back panel, reinsert the bolts, and fasten them to the frame to complete the installation.

After you have reassembled the unit, attach the power cord, and the audio/video output cable to the ultio. Then hook the cable up to the inputs on your television screen. Start the device by pressing the power button located on the front of the device.

    Update the Firmware:

1.Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
2.Plug in the USB thumb drive with the firmware image.
3.Release the power button and the unit should boot load the firmware.

    Continued. .
    1.Remove power cable
2.Plug in USB drive containing the updated firmware only.
3.Press and hold the power button.
    4.Plug in the power cable.
5.Hold power button until the Ultio starts booting, then release power button.

    OnScreen Menu Options:
1.Select setup on the bottom of the onscreen menu.
2.Find the system menu, and select HDD format.
3.Allow it to complete the disk format procedure before anything else.

Then you can browse the menu options, and begin to add files to the drive. Choose a location where media is stored, and browse the file list on the OnScreen menu. Hit the "OK" button the the remote to make your selection.

Now you can create a video playlist, or watch slideshow of your photographs and images with your choice of music. You also have the option to browse and view video, and images in the preview window.
Consult the manual for further details.

    "Area51" Movie Trailer in 1080HD:
As seen on this "My Screen" edition I have featured the colorful characters of a new Walt Disney movie
called Area 51; The aliens of CGI, an epic journey. The familiar character voices are those of David Duchovny,
and the last person you would expect to see hanging out with David Duchovny; Marilyn Manson.
Will be interesting to see how it turns out.
