I've been looking at the Vapochill Micro which has R134a refrigerant inside it.

I use a Coolermaster Hyper 6+ and couldn't be happier. Keeps my 3000+ at 30C. The MicroChill is plagued by poor mounting mechanisms.

I've read a lot of articles that say this years coolers can cool just as well as a watercooler and at a fraction of the price. It might not be 100% true but it's at least 90%. Physics as well dictates that Heat energy goes from high density to low density, and the lower the density, the easier it is to transfer heat into it. It takes almost no energy to heat a room compared to the energy it takes to heat a bath. So in theory, There's a lot of development space in fan and heatsing coolers-they are able to disipate heat more efficently into air.
The problem is, setting everything up to take advantage of this fact. A lot of people stick a case fan at the rear of their case and wonder why they didn't invest in water cooling. Well, that's my bit.

EDIT: Sorry, i'm ordered in a Zalman fan. Not only is it huge, but it looks freaking awsome. It's big enough to cool the whole Motherboard. No joke.
You bring up a valid point. Air is general a very good insulator, but as you said, they are having problems utilizing this characteristic. For now, however, it seems water cooling still has an edge on air cooling, even if it is only a slight one.
You are correct on the amount of energy it takes to warm a room vs a bath, but you applied it wrong. That's the whole reason that water cooling is better than air cooling, because it can absorb more energy than air can. Water cooling is also more efficient since you can use fewer fans, and it dumps the heat right out the case, instead of circulating it around.
Now, you're right that alot of air coolers can do the same in performance for less, but it is incorrect to say they are the same.

Zalman's are the best in my opinion.
the fatal1ty one is what im using on my CPU and VGAcard they keep your **** real cold.

the only downfall is the price thats y i dont have one
