    Default Home Theater System

    Not sure if this is the right forum, but here it goes.

    Currently, my family and I are working on a remodel of our house. As part of this, all of the current sheetrock is coming down, allowing me to run CAT6, RCA, etc. As part of all of this, we are putting a "secret" room which I will be putting the security camera computer in. I also want to put in a computer that will have all of our music, videos, and pictures.

    Here's where I need the help: I'm looking to be able to control the music from each room. Is there a certain controller that you guys know about that would work well?

    I'll probably end up only wiring the computer to the main TV in the living room and I had the great thought of running the PS/2 and USB ports along with the video signal. Is this even possible? Or will I need some sort of booster, etc?

    I look forward to hearing (reading) any advice, or experience, that you guys have.

    Thank you,
    Trace

    It might be possible with CAT5e or CAT6.

    Sounds like a really cool idea. Malkovich crawlspace?
    I would recommend one of these home et control panels.

    Otherwise you will have to have run wires to each receiver individually.
    Used to have surround sound wired to a central stereo receiver out at the fish camp.
    You could control the music levels for each room according to preference. Er. . wad'eair.

    There ARE devices that will allow you to use Cat5/6 as extenders for Video, usb/ps2, etc. Parts Express carries alot of this stuff in their "structured wiring" section I believe.

    One word of warning here;
    You Get What You Pay For!

    We have tested several of these devices and I would say that the cheaper they are the more likely that you will experience problems. BlackBox devices have given us the least amount of problems but they are pricey. You have to be specifically careful when trying to send HD signals or any high resolution signal (over 1280 x 1024) through these units due to interference issues.
