Default i got a new pellet gun, have a question.

so i just got a Crosman American Classic Pump Pistol. it's not the best pistol our there by any means but for what i use it for, or will it's plenty.

    link to gun

i've ordered a gun stock for it to turn it into a rifle as it's the same body as the crossman back packer.

it's bolt action which i love, and pump powered so no co2 to waste money on.

    question.
can i drill a hole in the side where the air chamber is pump it up 10 times, measure the pressure then either weld or screw in a fitting so i can get a tank of co2 to use with it? it's a pain to pump all the time. i most likely won't though.

I doubt it. I mean you can try but you would have to be careful because the piston that compresses the air has an oring on it and unless you do a good job of cleaning the hole and weld up or what ever you decide to do it will wear out fast.

I still have a crossman 760pump master pellet gun and a beeman that I got when I was 5. I used to take the 760 squirrel hunting. I rememer reading on hackaday or instructables where a guy modified a co2 powered daisy pellet pistol with a marlin .22 stock and an old scuba tank for power. He estimated he would get 10,000 shots at enough power to sink a pellet 3/4 the way into a 2x4 before having to have the scuba tank refilled. He later adapted it to an m16 style airsoft. I will search for it tonight and if I find it I will post it.

I don't see why not, as long as you drill the hole *past* the stroke of the piston, into the actual compression chamber and get a perfect seal on whatever fitting you use. Sounds like an awful lot of work to me, but then I guess that's what we do, eh?

    i forgot to take pics

here is a shot of it with the scope i picked up for it. i have ordered a mounts for it and a stock like the one in the picture. it's my friends so i am using it for now.

i also make some explosive rounds well not as explosive as i want but i'm sure it would light gas or something.

i just cut the head off a match and glued it to the pellet. works good.

here is a second proto type i am making. i drilled a hole through the pellet and mashed up matchs into a paste then push it into the pellet. then i will glue a match head onto the end and it should travel through it.

The Crosman's use valve inserts. You would have to drill into the valve insert, and solder a fitting to it (It's brass).

I made a replacement front half of a Crosman 12-gram valve (Very similar valves). Was going to use it for a Crosman 2260 project, but never did.

If you had a 12-gram based pistol it would be really simple. They make dummy 12 grams that have a 1/8NPT pipe fitting so you can run tanks on them.

/subscribed if you go through with the project. Please make a work log!!! Cool idea.

Also I think the pump is in need of bondo/sanding/painting to smooth it out to make it look more tactical.

Those handles flex a lot. I don't know how well it would hold up. It is popular to carve new furniture for Sheridans/Crosmans. Picking up some fancy hard wood like Korina, or Blood/Purpleheart would be hot! Or, if he could find some flamed/tiger stripe maple, I'd cream my pants lol!

lol, i do like that tactical look.

but altec is right the bondo would fall off i think.

the most i would do is paint it.

or ask a machine shop to make me a aluminum handle and get it anodized black.

i will definitely make a thread if i do that or mod it for co2.

i also want to build a little tube to auto feed the pellets, that i will most likely get done for sure.

If you decide to have a aluminum handle machined (Or any parts). Look in the Airsmiths section of a site called Mcarterbrown (A paintball website). All of those guys are used to working on the Sheridan/Crosman platform (Because Sheridan used to make paintball markers based on the OLD Pelletgun designs). I myself am not really setup for cosmetic machining, or I'd offer to help myself.

well just from looking at it i could get a 1" pipe about 7" long and just cut a channel out of it then drill 2 holes to mount it.

if it means anything i have a phase 3 1377, i'm reading up on changing it and whats involved.
