TheBestCaseScenario Exclusive! I won't post this brief worklog anywhere else!!
Since I built my R2-D2 a few years ago, many others have been popping up. To keep the whole Astromech idea fresh, I'm changing my paint job, to RED thus becoming R2-M5!

About half way on one side is done.
And the eyepiece is coming around too.

More finished
I may put a window here with clear red plexi
And here's the completed head.

Next are the legs which are the hardest part because the goofy shape is difficult to tape off.
For the first time the paint dripped a bit.
But it does look a lot better.
Still more coming...

I worked on the front plexi window this morning. See my plexi bending tutorial in the Tips, Tricks and Tuorials section
Looks close enough.
Then I slid it in.
Here's with a flashlight behind it.
I'll take a pic with the floodlight installed behind the plexi once it's dark enough. (See my Floodlight tutorial in the tips and tricks section)

The paint is a bit reflective and I was concerned that the Flood light on the inside would reflect back inside the case. The matte finish on the inside will ensure that much of the light will push it's way to the outside.
To hold the plexi in place I added silicon on the inside. I need this sturdy layer here to hold my 5.25 drive cage in place.
ANNOUNCEMENT!!
R2-M5 will have Blu-Ray!!
Now to paint the other leg....

The leg has been painted.
Now I'm taking a break while I wait for more parts to arrive. What's coming?
- Compu-Nurse temperature LCD
- Blu-Ray DVD ROM
- Floppy/Media Card reader
- Another Gig of RAM
P.S. I'm loving where this is going!

Small update. I removed this small piece of mesh that was once for cooling my HD
And replaced it with clear plexi. Now it's a window instead.

The temp monitor came today
Here's without the flash. You can see my blue LED PSU through the window I added and half of the light coming through the Red translucent window.
Up close. I'm using it for general system temp only
