Default Belkin scams Newegg and Amazon ratings

They shouldn’t get away with this. Bayard has also been paying people to post fake reviews on Buy.com and Newegg. Faking reviews is not only against Amazon.com’s Terms of Service, it’s also highly unethical and misleading. Amazon should reset its ratings for this product, and Belkin should discipline or fire this Mr Bayard, ASAP. This is one of the more scummy, totally awful advertising schemes I’ve seen. Tell Amazon and Belkin to read this blog entry and act accordingly.

Wow. Just wow. I hope that guy gets fired for unethical activities. I mean how blatantly stupid do you have to be to post it on a public website like that? Stuff like that really ticks me off...

Normally yea. Every company has one or two bad apples though, just sucks when someone like that achieves a position of such power.

True. I have good luck with Belkin's cards, but not their routers.

At least we didn't buy our wireless router based on these fraudulent ratings. It's doing fine so far, anyway.

Meh, I usually look through the reviewing websites before I buy anything anyways. I rarely put my wallet on the line with just customer reviews. The customer reviews get me interested, the professional reviews are what sell me.

But for your average person, this is a big problem. It makes you wonder, how far down the rabbit hole does it go? How are we to know? How are online retailers supposed to take action against preventing this kind of thing? It just seems like there is little anyone can do to stop something like it from happening.

Best to just stick with the trusted brands and do a little bit of research before buying I suppose. I guess if you aren't smart enough to do that in the first place, then you probably shouldn't be buying online. It sucks for the people who are just not very computer savvy and just simply don't know any better though.
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.
