    Default My Very Painful Decision

So I finally have a Quad core system.

I upgraded my R2-M5 to be my new system, but as always he's out to get me.

Ever since I have built it, I have had nothing but problems. Half the time it wouldn't even boot. I thought with a complete overhaul of the system that would change, but it hasn't. I am still plagued with power, USB, and booting issues. I may be paranoid, but I think that R2 is cursed.

So, it is my decision to scrap R2-M5. I will not be using it as a computer any longer. I have a Star Wars themed office so I'd like to keep it, but I don't know what it'll become. I may turn it into a Network Media Vault like this HP. Although I probably have less than 50GB that I need saving. So maybe it'll be something different.

The Quad core system will get a "normal" case, maybe modded, possibly Star Wars themed. None of that is a huge rush. I still have to pick a case, mod it (maybe)......we'll see.

I really LOVE the NZXT Khaos, but nearly $400 for a case???

    Another contender is the Tempest

    Lastly, the CM Stacker 830

    Any thoughts?

Did you not pay attention when R5 bit it in Episode 4? jk It'd be neat to see him as network storage even.

That tempest case looks cheap. I'd go for the khaos if you can afford it, if not, get the stacker.

Yeah I agree to the NAS and if you are looking for a new case I second your choice on a stacker 830. I hafve one and the things are massive. More room than I think I will ever need and by far one of the largest cases I have ever owned

I agree J-Roc, the Tempest does look cheap (much like an Antec 900) but it looks better than Antec 900 lol. Out of the cases you listed above I would go with the Stacker.

I think Omega is on to something, that would be sweet lol. You have some serious skills at modeling (not the clothes kind lol) TGS, you should take advantage of that.

    hmmm..

Did you make sure its chassis was well grounded?

Those sorts of problems tell me its a Computer with a bad ground or a Cheap powersupply itself. or to many things for a good powersupply to handle.

or there a motherboard standoff somewhere touching something on the backside of the board.

Why Not a Asus Vento 3600 or 7700.

They've got those nice Star Wars Alienware Cases for sale every now and then on ebay.

I've seen a Star wars vento with Appliques just like those two cases. looked flipping amazing.

Should google the warhammer 50,000k Vento 3600. thats a work of art on the outside of a computer right there.

On the flipside of the ground issue, are you using metal or plastic standoffs on the mobo? I had one machine with insane weird problems, and it turned out to be a short against the tray. Swapped to plastic standoffs, and it worked fine!

It's not worth messing with. I am sooooo tired of screwing with it. It's not even an issue anymore.
