Alright, I admit it. I'm retarded! I cannot make a boot disk. I've tried imgburn and SuperISO with no luck. I've made about 5 disks and none of them are bootable

I used InfraRecorder and had no problems, but five "bad" disks kinda points to bad media or the computer isn't set to boot from CD/DVD in the bios.

There really has not been a good explanation as to the choice of 7, except that calling it 6.1 would not sound good from a marketing perspective. They're trying to separate Windows 7 from the bad publicity that Vista has, if they would call it Windows 6.1, then people would wonder what Windows 6 was, and then figure out that it was Vista. Microsoft really doesn't want to associate Win 7 with Vista.

Yep, that's why I'm running the 64bit version.
    please see this post:

And in Win 7 you can see the server 2008 bits, you can also see bits taken from vista, it looks almost as if the windows 7 kernel has had a redesign, it seems more efficient, streamlined so to speak,

As said above it looks like a redesign, i would guess at this stage that they haven't built it upon vista, but used parts from vista that worked, then tweaked them to perform better than before.

Hence why this version of windows runs soo well on a VM, i would give this windows the thumbs up.
windows 7 is built using parts of the server 2008 kernel, yes it used server 2008 for the base, which in its own rite uses vista as a base, BUT, and this is a big but (And backed up by someone working on the windows7 project) it has been rewritten to make it more streamlined.

I burned the x86 and x64 first time with imgburn, no problems at all.

Another one of my machines has migrated to Windows 7, originally it had Debian installed, but to be honest, I find windows easier to configure for network use.

Yes, one of my computers had me, but that was win9x; I was just saying that it was the first NT to have it.
