is DDr2 that much better than regular DDR?
is DDr2 that much better than regular DDR?
yes and no
y? what kind of answer is yes and no? thats just spam I would also like to know if anyone knows why ddr2 is better
ddr2 is faster on much lower voltages -> requires less power -> less heat
the thing with ddr2 is that there are not many motherboards supporting it, and most likely there wont be any on s939 platforms for amds in other words they are pretty useless for amd fans.
we have currently hit into this topic in another thread, particularly about latency. I will direct the guys on that thread to this one. The thing that is concerning us (kind of) is the fact that all DDR2 latency is quite high, about 4-4-4-12. The question is does this vastly affect the performance of the memory or not at all? My motherboard support DDR and DDR2 (on seperate module things) but not at the same time. Which means that when I but my new DDR2 memory my old DDR memory will become obsolete. By the way Frakk you said
What was not good about it?yes and no
There is no other choice.
this is the bad thing i have never had an intel and most likely i will stick with amd. but on the other hand i would like to use or at least try ddr2 but i cant. and it kinda sucks that there is no use for me.the thing with ddr2 is that there are not many motherboards supporting it, and most likely there wont be any on s939 platforms for amds in other words they are pretty useless for amd fans
There's a fairly decent overview about the benifits of DDR2 here: http://www.tomshardware.com/motherbo...erwood-05.html
they took most of the info from Corsair, so it should be relitivly accurate.
