hello to all you modders. ive been quietly reading for some time and think im ready to make my first mod.
im taking an old stereo console(circa 1960's i believe) and will gut out the old components and install spare/old computer parts and make this a music server/digital jukebox.
the idea is to have a system that retains the classic look, retain the ability to play records/vinyl, but add in the modern conveniences a computer provides.
heres what im starting with:
as stated ill be gutting everything but the turntable. but heres my first option. shell out the bucks for a new usb turntable and mod that into it, or gut an old stereo reciever(pioneer vsx-d1s) to use as an amp. either way ill have it conected into a sound card.
i would also like to install a monitor on the left side of the console, and with the use of some sort of hinge be able to lift / rotate the monitor up for navigating music files.
the center area in the top view is where the volume, tone and balance are located. id like the relace that, and put in a trackball , mounted from underneath, along with possible a arcade style button, for mouse functions.
heres a beginning plan i drew in sketch up (still learning).
any feed back would be very welcome as all the work i see here is spectacular.
