    Default Southbridge fan replacement suggestions?

My southbridge fan is giving me grief, and have decided to replace it. It still works, but it sounds like it is about to throw a bearing when I start my rig up from a cold (ie, off for a few hours) state.

Here is what I had originally planned on using as a replacement, but from the reviews, it seems that this fan is NOISY. Not good, especially when the AC is running--I am pretty sure that with where my computer is situated at, I'm getting nearly 100 decibels from fans and whatnot--it's that loud. This is something that worries me a bit, as my hearing is not nearly as good as it should be, thanks to growing up around farm equipment AND playing drums with no hearing protection for 10 years (I've wizened up thank God).

    Suggestions?

If you're going to buy a new heatsink anyway, just get a decent passive one. Otherwise, maybe rip the fan off and drop on a quiet 60mm, off an old CPU cooler, say? It's just your southbridge, most of the time it won't be that hot.

Well, probably not. Which board is this?

Mine gets pretty hot, even with minimal overclocking.

It's an Biostar TForce4U Socket 939. The board that is listed in 'My System' specs.

Yeah, clearance should be fine. I'd go with the second one - that stock cooler looks like a bit of a POS (that's why I asked, for location and quality).

i think your southbridge cooler needs a new mobo.

I'd just change the fan on it. $5 fix
