I'm rockin an E8400, and it's been nice and solid. Pulled a decent overclock on it so far, but nothing too extreme.

I havent done any gaming on it yet, but I did get some pretty good scores on 3dMark and Aquamark. I just bumped back to Vista today (good bye XP X64.. you flaky bastard) so I'll be trying out a few things with it soon. Check out my "Throttle Junkie" build for screenshots of benchmarks, and some build pics.

Also, Berticus Pryme built an almost exact system as me, but went with the q6600 instead. You can talk to him about this scores as well, he posted a few things into my build thread also.

Well if your getting some video card like the 8800GT + I would recommend the Q6600 because you do get a huge boost in overall speed of the PC and graphics. Although you can get the Q6700 for like $50 more... and it comes with a free game I have the Q6700 and it overclocks like a champ. If you are getting it in the dell, (XPS 420 or 430 I presume your looking at), you can overclock. I recommend the warranty though. Oh and don't tell them you OC'd. Oh and don't tell them a Dell rep told ya

Which resolution are you going to game?

The GT is good for lower res, such as 1440x900 and no higher. You can start looking into the GTS (1680x1050) and GTX/Ultra (1920x1200) for higher res performance.

Normal that the GT is equal to the GTX in some tests... at a res of 1024x768. Crank that up to 1920x1200, the GT will take a huge dump down.

Sorry to disagree but my 8800GT runs great at 1680 x 1050, esp in game and running dual monitors. Also the GT has a much better performances than the GTS.

It is true that the GT can't go to 1920 x 1200 but you really dont need that unless you have a 24"+ monitor.

Well actually, Im looking for the best deal. It could be dell or another company if the price and power are right. I was looking at the xps420 or 630 because its overclockable and more easily upgradeable. So if you guys want to check around for me that would be awesome.
And yes I know I can build my own pc, but im not in this for the gamble I like warrentys and tech support.

    And happy 21st Fuganater!

Yeah I have a 3 yr warranty. Besides the computer I have now was a refurb and worked fine for well over 2 years.

Actually I think the price was a glitch, it was way too cheap, The red addition with the 1000w psu
