Thread: QX9650 Cooling System Help Needed!!!

I did not actually buy all of the parts yet. I only have my case, CPU, and mobo. That is why I asked before to see what my price range would be. Anyway, what is a good and not too expensive water cooling system. If it does bring down temperatures 20 to 30 degrees then I would say that it is worth it. If people can still run it 20 to 30 degrees less on air cooling then it would not be necessary. So again if I want to overclock a little then what would be the best, water or air? If water then what would be a good kit or what parts would you recommended?
    Thanks.

If you do a small overclock, a good heatsink (air) would work, but you may have problems with your temps. However a large overclock, you'd be best to use water, it will work better than air and you can achieve bigger overclocks.

So what air cooling system, that does not cost too much, do you recommend? I would like to keep the temperatures at a low level. I have looked at some of the thermaltake bigwater series but also read that the pump usually dies very fast. Also if I was to buy separate parts, what parts would you recommend?

    Thanks for your quick reply.

    ok here are your choices,

    AIR:
    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.

    Water:
    1x Swiftech MCP655 Pump = 69.99
    1x D-tek FuZion = 59.99
    1x Swiftech MCR 320 rad 44.99
    1x Swiftech HydrX = 2.99
    10x ClearFLEX 60 Tubing 1/2" ID / 3/4" OD = 8.90
    3x YATE LOON 120mm Case Fan = 9.45

    total = $195.31

if noise is a big issue you can go with lower medium speed fans here.
    CPU: Q6600 G0 3.5GHz@1.4v (4.2GHz max) / 4790k 4.8ghz @1.265v
    GPU: 9800GTX /GTX780 hydrocopper
    Ram: Samsung 4GB /gskill 16gb DDR3 1600
    Mobo: EVGA-NF68-A1 680i (P32) /AsRock Extreme6
    PSU: Enermax Galaxy 850Watt /EVGA 850 G2
    HDD: OCZ 120GB Vertex4, Samsung evo 840 250GB
    LCD: Samsung 32" LN32A450, Samsung 226BW 22" wide
    Sound: Logtiech Z 5500
    CPU & GPU: 3x Swiftech MCR320, 2x MCP655, MCW60 R2, Dtek Fuzion V2, 18 high speed yates @ 5v

    Hi,
What do u guys think of the CoolIT Eliminator? I heard that it makes a little clicking sound but I mean if it cools well then it is something to consider right?
    Thanks

Is there anything else I can use for the radiator that will actually fit in my case? I have a mid tower, the thermaltake armour JR. The Swiftech-MCR320-QP-K-Triple-120mm-Radiator will not fit because it is triple. Can I just use something that can fit on the 120mm fan slot in the back of the pc like the Thermaltake CLW0002 radiator?

    here is a google search with a bunch of reviews, it's not worth the money and here is a quote from one of them;

Results: This overclock is really pushing the limits of both the processor and the cooling as things are really starting to heat up. At idle, the CoolIT Eliminator CPU Cooler looked like it would again lead the group, but it was only to be at idle. When run at full load the $150 Eliminator was unable to handle this monster overclock and was running at the same load temperature as the $40 Thermaltake Big Typhoon air cooler! The Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooler was able to beat out the pair of TEC coolers and the air cooler at load temperatures. Something that was interesting to note is that the Corsair Nautilus 500 cooled system was the only one that could complete two instances of Super PI 32M at these settings.
load temps are more important then idle and in load a air cooler beats it. waste of money IMO.

NO! kits like that are junk and may work fine at the start but will fail 2-3 months down the road.

if its just the cpu you probably could get away with just a 240mm rad which you could mount in the front or the top maybe.

What about the Thermaltake CL-W0002? That is 120mm and can fit easily for me. And yeah for now its just CPU

thats to small and made by thermaltake, they couldn't make any water cooling product to save there lives.

you can mount a 240mm like this

    CPU: Q6600 G0 3.5GHz@1.4v (4.2GHz max) / 4790k 4.8ghz @1.265v
    GPU: 9800GTX /GTX780 hydrocopper

You REALLY should have thought about this before you bought a $1000 CPU that needs a cooler that probably wont fit too well in a mid tower. No offence but... yea
