Default 8 raid 0 10krpm raptors bad for hearing?

well just recently my friend discovered that he had 8 spare sata ports on his computer and bought 8 10k raptors to put in them, think this might be bad for his hearing as 2 sounds pretty loud to me

Raptors are nothing compared to a Delta 220CFM fan.

I wouldn't be too worried, if there's a problem, get him to wear ear plugs!

    8. EIGHT? E I G H T! 4+4=8, half of 16 sort of 8?

Jesus, must have been worse on his wallet.

I doubt there will be a problem, but christ why would anyone need 8 drives at 10k in RAID 0

Or do some sound/vibration dampening in his case for the drives if they get too loud. When mounted properly you shouldn't hear a raptor over a 80mm fan (at least in my experience that's how it's been).

I wish I had that kind of money to just throw at some dives in order to fill up my extra SATA ports. If he can do something like RAID 5, I'd suggest doing that to get at least some drive failure protection while maintaining a ridiculously high data throughput.
