    Nope .....

    Vista TCP/IP Management - Don't Use TCPOptimizer:

"Well ... here's a shock ... something Vista does well ... in fact very well:

I heard Vista dynamically manages settings such as the TCP receive window that you can use TCPOptimizer and other programs to set to improve internet surfing performance.

If you use TCPOptimizer on a Vista machine guess what? It slows your internet connection down."

On XP and Win2K it is very unusual not to see a speed increase. It doesn't work too well on all wifi receivers though. Some just stop working.

    bringing back an old thread.

I am completely happy with Verizon Fios, a few problems here and there. Nothing Major.

It's like JFK announcing the moon mission. He had no expertise in space travel, and no way of knowing if it would work. He just announced "we're going to the moon" and then they made it happen because everyone was on the same page and working towards the same goal. If he had said "well, let's get some people in space, and we'll see how far out we can get, and if I find someone to make a rocket strong enough, we could possibly approach the moon's orbit and maybe land" it wouldn't have happened.

Considering what I came from (15 mile sneakernet) this is a major improvement.

Congrats! I remember the feeling well, going from dial-up to broadband.

This is the Wireless at 4/5 bars at Georgia Tech. The wired connection is just insane...

I would really like my Thermaltake prizes... Thanks everyone for my wonderful prizes!

WUT? I can barely break 8 MB and my speed is REALLY sporadic, as in, most of the time it doesn't go over 2MB. They don't have FIOS in my area yet.
